Psychological counseling

Psychological counseling is a brief intervention that provides an opportunity for UniGe students to find a space for listening and support in relation to situations of psychological distress that may interfere with their academic journey. Counseling promotes self-knowledge and awareness of personal resources to effectively cope with challenging situations.
The psychological counseling pathway consists of five sessions at regular intervals with a final follow-up session about three months later. Privacy and confidentiality are guaranteed.

Since 2018, the  Insieme psychological counseling service has been active in UniGe. It is free service open to the student community.
Through the PRISMA project, three additional free psychological counseling pathways have been activated for some specific target groups, with guaranteed confidentiality and privacy.

  • The first is intended for students, medical residents, and PhD students affliliated with the Giannina Gaslini Institute in Genoa. To book an appointment, please contact elisa.bertolacci@ext.unige.it.

  • The second is intended for international students and is provided in English. To book an appointment, please contact elisa.canepa@ext.unige.it.

  • The third is intended for academic staff and technical-administrative personnel (PTA), who may encounter difficulties when faced with signs of distress among students, such as exam anxiety, study blocks, relational difficulties, demotivation, withdrawal, or absenteeism. In these situations, it is common to feel uncertain about how to intervene. The service offers a confidential space for consultation where staff can express concerns, share observations, and receive guidance and practical tools from professionals in order to better support members of the student community.
To book an appointment, please contact alberta.alcetti@edu.unige.it or patrizia.minetto@ext.unige.it
